Pre-arrival: Step #1

Participants will be mailed the selected Art & Spirit text three weeks before arrival. They will read it in preparation for the Art & Spirit seminars.

Participants will collect and bring 5 of their own poems to workshop during the workshop sessions.

Art & Spirit Seminar: ~30-45 minutes

Participants will engage in a seminar discussion on the relationship of Art & Spirit , kickstarted by the Art & Spirit text.

Poetry Workshop: ~1 hour

Attendees will participate in a faciliated, MFA-style poetry workshop, offering and receiving pointed feedback on their own work.

Craft Talk: ~30 minutes

30-minute lecture/discussion over elements of poetic craft, often facilitated with a selected text. For an example of what study of poetic craft can look like, read "The Sentence is a Lonely Place" by Garielle Lutz.

Craft Exercise/Writing: 30-45 minutes

After the craft talk, students will spend 30-45 minutes writing in the countryside of Chickamauga. These pieces can be used for the next day's workshop or remain unread.
